Toshiba Invests in Founder's Shenzhen Wafer Foundry

Japan's Toshiba and China's FMI (Founder Microelectronics Inc.) recently announced an investment contract, whereby Toshiba will acquire an equity stake in the Shenzhen-based wafer foundry. FMI is a subsidiary of China-based Founder Group.

According to Chinese sources, Toshiba and Founder's contract includes a technology transfer agreement for FMI to leverage Toshiba's BiCD (Bipolar/CMOS/DMOS) process technology in providing foundry service for its global clients.
